10 Serious Wrestlers WWE Turned Into Comedy Acts

WWE has the habit of debuting a wrestler with a serious gimmick on television and then gradually lessening the seriousness of their character as they turn into a full-blown comedy act no doubt evolution in wrestling especially the WWE is essential for longevity and success and all the top wrestlers such as stone cold the rock and even John Cena have incorporated comedy into their gimmicks at one stage but despite this there is a stark contrast between sporadic comedy segments and wrestlers ago from threatening to downright parody.

NO.1 VLADIMIR KOZLOV

In 2008 WWE debuted bland amir Kozlov as their next top foreign heel Kozlov was a Russian monster who received a huge push on the SmackDown brand and WWE were highly invested in him despite the crowd not really taking to the 300-pounder. Kozlov would mainly have squash matches for the first few months on Smackdown before receiving the biggest push of his career where he would begin to feud with Triple H for the WWE title he would receive a shot at 2008 Survivor Series however the crowd heavily turned on the match as it was far too slow for a WWE title match in 2008. Kozlov was kept strong after the pay-per-view match and he was even considered to face the Undertaker at WrestleMania 25 before WWE opted to book Shawn Michaels for the show instead but after a stint in ECW Kozlov would join the raw brand and turn face and begin a team with Santino Marella the duo was 100% comedic base and they surprisingly worked well together but I resulted in Kozlov turning into a full-blown comedic character with the duo even winning the tag team titles. Sadly the duo's run would be short-lived as kozlov would be released from his WWE contract in 2011 and would never be seen on WWE television ever again what is he doing now well he's seriously jacked.

N0.2 KURGANS

Right there that's the interrogator seven feet tall approximately 350 pounds the 7-foot wrestler known as kurgan made his WWE debut in 97 as part of the heel stable the truth commissioned a Kurgan was a decent worker who despite his height could really move well around the ring he would even use the iron claw finishing move which looked absolutely deadly and legitimate as a finisher for the seven-foot monster but shortly after WWE quickly moved kurgan into a comedic based role by joining him up with giant silver and gold Goethe formed the strange stable known as the oddities they were a stable who would dance to the ring to the Insane Clown Posse's entrance music and their entirety of the matches would consist of childlike immature humor this was a massive shame as Kurgan had a lot of potential when he came into the WWE and no doubt if he came into the company ten years earlier he would have been a huge star.

NO.3 TENSEI

Matt bloom will portray the Tensei character had a history of different characters during his two separate fronts in the WWE he was once Prince Albert then Albert then a train then Lord Tensai then Tensei and then finally sweet teas but despite the various name changes in characters after Bluth was released in 2004 he would achieve great success in Japan and this included two different runs as one half of the IWGP Tag Team Champions naturally as bloom got himself over outside the WWE and made himself a huge commodity WWE had a desire to bring him back they would agree to bring back bloom in 2012 following WrestleMania 28 would have grand plans for the former Intercontinental Champion bloomer debut under the name Lord Tensai would debut with Japanese symbols on his face a logic you XI and have a Japanese follower Sakamoto the debut was met with extremely negative fan reactions his fans chanted Albert at Tensei it didn't take well to the new character. Naturally WWE kept pushing Tensei side of the mood which included a winner over John Cena and actually had plans for Tensei to feed with CM Punk for the WWE title but after six weeks they realized that the character wasn't connecting and did a complete 180 turning him into a comedic character. Hiba joined forces with Brodus Clay to form tons of funk a novelty tag team who were all about dancing and having fun again another massive shame is tense I had a lot of potential if the WWE didn't debut him with a ridiculous name and gimmick.

NO.4 THE ONE-MAN GANG

The One-Man Gang was predominantly known for his time in mid-south wrestling and well class Championship Wrestling before making the jump to WWE in 1987. Gang was a menacing wrestler who had the size and look to be a top guy could actually wrestle and to his credit he managed to build up a connection with the audience. He would always be presented as an upper mid card owner and he even received 35 chances at the WWE title during his run but despite his success pretty much lack of it he never became champion. gang turned into a comedy act when it was revealed that he was actually African and he would now embrace his heritage and would go under the name Akeem of the African dream don't. This would consist of our team doing bizarre dances to the ring and would completely alter is in ring style to make it more comedic and fan friendly.

NO.5 BRODUS CLAY

Brodus Clay had a really strong initial presentation he was presented as a legitimate monster during his time alongside Alberto Del Rio before taking some time off to film the movie no one lives to promote his return WWE would air promos that would show Brodus destroying people to build up the return this monster. However when he returned months later he would return as a fan loving dancing dinosaur and would even use somebody called my momma as his entrance theme.

NO.6 ROSIE

In 2002 WWE debuted Rosie a 400-pound monster who teamed with Jamal to form a 3-minute warning and juror who would be hired as Eric Bischoff's and forces in an underrated tank team whose work holds up extremely well almost two decades later. unfortunately they wouldn't last long as in 2003 Jamal was released by the WWE meaning that they had to find an alternative career path rooms. They decided to pair him with the hurricane and turn him into the superhero in training naturally meaning he would turn into a comedic babyface character with the character being a stark contrast to the series and threatening character he once possessed Rosie would actually find more success with this character.The duo will go on to be one of the most popular tag teams of the ruthless aggression era.

NO.7 THE GRAET KHALI

The Great Khali have received one of the biggest pushes of all-time upon his initial debut in 2006 he would be presented incredibly strong and would even pin the Undertaker clean during his pay-per-view debut in 2006. But following this came a world title run in 2007 which resulted in one of the worst rains in the company's history it took WWE nearly two years to see that the Khali experiment was a complete failure. It was receiving audible you can't wrestle chance whenever he was on television WWE had to think of a way to combat this negative fan reaction their idea was to turn Khali into a complete comedic character he would now be known as the Punjabi Playboy turning face in starting the Khali kiss cam which would involve his manager Ranjin Singh picking a woman out of the crowd for Carly to kiss. The segment's were kind of cringing bizarre will be a harmless they would keep Carly around in this kind of comedic role until 2016 which is some going liguori Kali would never get to the heights he attained during his initial 12 months in the company but a 10 year run in the WWE for someone who struggled to connect with the audience is quite an achievement .

NO.8 BRAUN STROWMAN

Strowman was positioned as a top heel as a legitimate monster from his debut as the member of the Wyatt family this continued to evolve when the 2016 brand split occurred and board was positioned as one of the top heels on the raw brand he was a serious legitimate threat who took out all the top stars from Roman reigns and even laid out Brock Lesnar. But a reluctance on the part of WWE to go all the way with the future Universal Champion resulted in Braun being in limbo them turning him into a novelty act who seemingly existed fits she blabs. For instance at WrestleMania 34 he teamed with the child to win the raw tag team titles in a throwaway match then the preceding year he was feeding with celebrities from Saturday Night Live in another comedic affair. Braun seems to flip between serious and comedic with no logical systematic approach to his presentation.

NO.9 KANE

Kane came all the names on the list Kane is the one name that WWE have turned into a comedy act then back into a serious threat several times over the Kane has actually had a near twenty-year career of succeeding by evolving his character and adding more comedic layers. He initially debuted as a silent monster in 97 but as time went on he gradually added more comedy to his character. You even say suck it at one stage I won't even do the spinaroonie. The cane had an incredible comedic ability meaning the comedy actually made him even more popular with the fans notably Kane was part of the team hell no duo with Daniel Bryan which was a comedy based tank team and Kane even admitted that working with Bryan was the most fun he's ever had in his career.

NO.10 THE BIG SHOW

The Big Show made his WWE debut in 1999 by attacking Stone Cold Steve Austin at the st. Valentine's Day Massacre pay-per-view. It was an instant credible threat who the fans could take seriously well then WWE turned the Big Show into a comedic act. Just one year after his WWE debut the Big Show began a phase of impersonating other wrestlers such as Hulk Hogan and Rikishi Lilin turned him back into a serious act shortly after but the damage was already done. WWE realized they had a versatile seven-foot wrestler who could do the comedic storylines as effectively as he could do the serious ones but they couldn't stick with the seriousness as he then turned into a comedy act once again including dancing as the New Year's baby and even competed in a sumo match at WrestleMania 21. The big show though has been an overall success as his WWE career has spanned over 20 years which without question is an amazing achievement.
